FAQ

Q: What are Induction Loops?

A: Induction loop systems (or to give them their full name: Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems - AFILS) are used to assist the hearing impaired by transmitting amplified sound, i.e., music, speech, etc, to hearing aids fitted with a telecoil. (NHS and most other third party hearing aids are fitted with telecoils.) Demand for AFILS is increasing due to new legislation aimed at preventing discrimination against disabled people.

Q: What is Infrared Sound Support?

A: Infrared is a means of transmitting audio signals to a dedicated receiver and works like a TV remote control. The sound source is converted into an infrared beam which is transmitted throughout the room and received by a dedicated personal receiver which converts the signal back into audio. The receiver amplifies the sound and can be adjusted to the wearers requirements. The advantage of infrared is privacy. The signal will not pass outside the room unlike induction loops and radio frequency systems. Main areas of use: Cinemas, Confidential Meeting Rooms, Multi lingual conference halls etc.
